The government has begun a number of changes in the space industry and has made it more accessible to the private sector. IN-SPACe will provide non-government private entities access to the Department of Space’s facilities. It will also increase private sector engagement in the space industry. In the presence of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, a total of ten Memorandums of Understanding were signed. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre is a nodal entity under the Department of Space that is independent of the government. |
NCPCR launched an app to help in the rehabilitation of children living on the street. | Under the Baal Swaraj portal, the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has released a “CiSS application.” It will aid in the rehabilitation of children living on the streets (CiSS). The Bal Swaraj Portal has been created by the NCPCR for online and digital real-time monitoring of children in need of care and protection. It is India’s first-of-its-kind effort to assist youngsters living on the streets. The CiSS programme will be used to collect data on children living on the streets from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It will also keep track of the rescue and recovery efforts. The Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act of 2005 established NCPCR as a statutory authority. |
Agriculture Minister unveiled Anocovax, the country’s first homegrown COVID-19 vaccine for animals. | It was created by ICAR-National Research Centre for Equines, a Haryana-based firm (NRC). The immunity elicited by Anocovax neutralises both the Delta and Omicron forms of SARS-CoV-2. The vaccine comprises inactivated SARS-CoV-2 (Delta) antigen with Alhydrogel as an adjuvant and is safe for dogs, lions, leopards, mice, and rabbits. The ‘CAN-CoV-2 ELISA kit,’ a sensitive and specific nucleocapsid protein-based indirect ELISA kit for antibody detection against SARS-CoV-2 in canines, was also released by the minister. Surra ELISA kit, a suitable diagnostic test for ‘Trypanosoma evansi’ infection in numerous animal species, was also released. In addition, an Equine DNA parentage testing kit was released for horse parentage analysis. |
International Albinism Awareness Day 2022: 13 June | International Albinism Awareness Day is observed every year on June 13th. It is commemorated in order to raise awareness about albinism and to preserve the human rights of albinos. “United in making our voice heard” is the theme of International Albinism Awareness Day 2022. In 2014, the UN Human Rights Council designated June 13 as International Albinism Awareness Day. Albinism is a non-contagious, genetically inherited condition marked by a lack of melanin in the skin, eyes, and hair. Many people suffer from lifelong vision impairment as a result of a lack of melanin in their eyes. |
12th WTO Ministerial Conference will be held from 12-15 June in Geneva after five years. | Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal led the Indian delegation. Kazakhstan will co-host the meeting, which will be chaired by Kazakhstan’s President’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Timur Suleimenov. During this year’s conference, the WTO’s reaction to the pandemic, talks on fisheries subsidies, and agriculture issues such as public stockholding for food security will be the key themes of discussion and negotiation. UNGA has adopted an India-sponsored resolution on multilingualism. | For the first time, the Hindi language is mentioned in the resolution. On June 11, 2022, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution. It calls on the United Nations to continue to disseminate communications and messages in both official and non-official languages, including Hindi. TS Trimurti, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated that this is the first time the Hindi language has been acknowledged in a resolution of this nature. Aside from that, the Bengali and Urdu languages are mentioned in the resolution for the first time. |
Saanapathi Gurunaidu won Gold medal at the IWF Youth World Championships in Leon, Mexico on 12 June 2022. | Saanapathi Gurunaidu is a weightlifter from India. In the men’s 55 kilogramme event, Saanapathi Gurunaidu won the gold medal. On the first day of the competition, Vijay Prajapati and Akansha Kishor Vyavhare earned silver medals. They are also weightlifters from India. Vijay came in second place in the Men’s 49 kg event. In the Women’s 40 kilogramme division, Akanksha won the gold medal. |
Union Minister Jitendra Singh to release second edition of the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment 2021 on 13th June. | This study was created to evaluate the efficacy of states, UTs, and central ministries in providing online services to residents. The research will also include recommendations for how governments might improve their e-Government service delivery platforms. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances established the National e-Government Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) in 2019. (DARPG). Finance, Labor & Employment, Education, Local Governance & Utility Services, Social Welfare, Environment, and Tourism are among the seven sectors covered under NeSDA 2021. State / UT / Central Ministry Portals and Services Portals were the two types of portals evaluated. e-Government services have improved across the country, according to NeSDA 2021. In the rating of Portals, Jammu & Kashmir ranks first among the Union Territories. Kerala came out on top in the Remaining States – Group A category, followed by Tamil Nadu and Punjab. Nagaland leads the North-East and Hill States, with Meghalaya and Assam coming in second and third, respectively. |
India and UAE to sign MoU for Cooperation in the field of Industries and Advanced Technologies. | The idea for signing this MoU was authorised by the Union Cabinet, which is led by Narendra Modi, in order to push for greater collaboration in the fields of industries and advanced technologies. The UAE is India’s eighth largest investor, with a total investment of US$ 18 billion (Rs.1.37 lakh crore). India’s second-largest export destination is the United Arab Emirates. In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, India sold items to the UAE valued US$ 29 billion (Rs.2.21 lakh crore). India and the UAE inked a bilateral “Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement” on February 18, 2022. (CEPA). |
World Day Against Child Labour: 12 June | The 12th of June is designated as World Day Against Child Labor each year. The day was established by the International Labour Organization in 2002 to raise awareness regarding child labour. Its primary goal is to promote the global anti-child labour campaign. The “Week of Action Against Child Labor” will be held this year from June 3 to 12. The situation of child labourers is brought to the attention of governments, workers’ groups, and civil society on this day. “Take prompt and effective steps to eliminate forced labour, modern slavery, and human trafficking, and ensure the ban and elimination of the worst forms of child labour,” according to SDG 8.7. |
R Praggnanandhaa wins Group ‘A’ title in Norway Chess Tournament. | With 7.5 points in nine rounds, Indian Grand Master R Praggnanandhaa won the Group ‘A’ event at the Norway Chess competition. He was unbeaten for nine rounds and defeated V. Praneeth to win the competition. Victor Mikhalevski, Vitaly Kunin, Mukhammadzokhid Suyarov, Semen Mutusov, and Mathias Unneland were also defeated by R Praggnanandhaa. In a recent online fast chess competition, R. Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched YSR Yantra Seva Scheme. | He gave 3,800 Yantra Seva Centres 3,800 tractors and 320 combine harvesters. The major goal of the YSR Yantra Seva project is to cut the cost of farming and boost farmer income by supplying agricultural machinery at a reduced rate. The government intends to open 10,750 bespoke recruiting centres under this programme. Harvesters costing Rs 25 lakh will be installed at each centre. Farmer cooperatives will handle the custom hiring centres. The government will provide a 40% subsidy for the purchase of farm equipment. The waste-to-energy facility at Kondaveedu was also inaugurated by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. |
Krishna Srinivasan appointed as director of Asia and Pacific Department (APD) of IMF. | On June 22, Indian national Krishna Srinivasan will take over as head of the International Monetary Fund’s Asia and Pacific Department (APD). Changyong Rhee, who announced his retirement on March 23, would be succeeded by Krishna Srinivasan. He is now employed as a Deputy Director at the Department of Asia and the Pacific. |
