He is an Income Tax cadre officer in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), class of 1986.

He is currently the Central Board of Direct Taxes Member (Investigation). In September 2023, he is slated to retire.

After J B Mohapatra retired on April 30, Sangeeta Singh, a CBDT member and IRS official from the 1986 batch, assumed extra responsibility for the position of CBDT chairman.

Currently, there are five members of the CBDT. Anuja Sarangi, Pragya Sahay Saksena, and Subashree Anantkrishnan make up the remaining three members.
9.The government extended the GST compensation cess levy deadline to 31 March 2026.

The GST Compensation Cess deadline has been extended by the government by almost four years, until March 31, 2026.

On June 30, the GST Compensation Cess levy deadline came to an end.

Currently, the GST compensation cess is assessed on items like as cigarettes, aerated water, coal, pan masala, and automobiles.

The GST Council has extended the deadline for the GST compensation cess to be paid back for loans that states have taken out.

For the current fiscal year, the GST compensation cess collection will be in the neighbourhood of 1.2 lakh crore.

The Goods and Services Tax (Reimbursement to States) Act of 2017 promised states compensation for losses sustained as a result of the implementation of this tax system at a compounded rate of 14% from the base year 2015–16.

The Western Ghats area is home to the majority of the indigenous bird species.
11.For the first time, a rare species of carnivorous plant has been discovered in the western Himalayan region.

The Uttarakhand Forest Department has discovered a rare species of carnivorous plant known as “Utricularia Furcellata” in the Mandal valley.

It is a member of the bladderwort genus and is capable of catching tadpoles, insects, mosquito larvae, and protozoa.

The team from the Uttarakhand Forest Department made their finding, which has since been documented in the “Journal of Japanese Botany.”

The finding was found in Uttarakhand as part of a study effort on insectivorous plants.

In most cases, freshwater and moist soil are home to carnivorous plants. They thrive on soils with fewer nutrients. Common examples of carnivorous plants are Dionaea muscipula, Pitcher Plant, and Cobra Lily.
12.A study titled “India’s Booming Gig and Platform Economy” was released by NITI Aayog.

नीति आयोग द्वारा “इंडियाज बूमिंग गिग एंड प्लेटफॉर्म इकोनॉमी” शीर्षक से एक अध्ययन जारी किया गया था।
This research, which is a first of its sort, offers thorough viewpoints and suggestions on the gig economy in India.

It discusses the benefits and drawbacks of the gig economy and offers examples of international best practises for social security efforts.

State governments, training organisations, platform providers, and other stakeholders will use the report’s suggestions to advance the gig economy.

This estimate claims that 77 lakh employees participated in the gig economy in 2020–21.

By 2029–2030, there would be about 2.35 crore (23.5 million) gig workers.

Currently, roughly 47% of gig workers work in medium-skilled positions, 22% in high-skilled positions, and about 31% in low-skilled positions.

The percentage of gig workers in the non-agricultural workforce will be 6.7% until 2029–2030.

The research also recommends expanding social inclusion through gender sensitization and platform-led transformative and outcome-based skilling.

A free market system known as the “gig economy” is made up of temporary employment, contract work, and independent contractors.

It is celebrated to increase public awareness of MSMEs’ contributions to sustainable development and global economic prosperity.

Since 2017, the 27th of June has been designated as World MSME Day.

“Resilience and Rebuilding: MSMEs for Sustainable Development” is the topic of MSME Day this year.

On this occasion, three hybrid sessions (online and offline) with business owners from around the world were held by the United Nations.

Nearly 70 percent of all jobs and 50 percent of the GDP are contributed by formal and informal MSMEs.
14.Chowalloor Krishnankutty, a well-known lyricist and novelist, went dead.

जाने-माने गीतकार और उपन्यासकार चौवलूर कृष्णनकुट्टी का निधन हो गया।
At the age of 86, Chowalloor Krishnankutty passed away in a private medical college hospital in the Keralan town of Thrissur.

As an assistant editor for the newspaper Malayala Manorama, he retired. He was also the Kerala Kalamandalam’s vice chairman.

More than 3000 devotional songs and 200 books have been published by him.

He has won several honours, including the Revathy Pattathanam Awards and the Kerala Sahithya Academy Award.
