On November 1, 2022, RBI will introduce the Digital Rupee pilot programme in the wholesale sector. | The first pilot project in the Digital Rupee-Wholesale segment will begin on November 1, 2022, according to a statement from the RBI titled “Operationalization of Central Bank Digital Currency-Wholesale (e-W) Pilot.” Government securities secondary market transactions will be settled in Digital Rupee. The interbank market will function more efficiently thanks to the use of the E-Rupee. Future pilots will concentrate on cross-border payments and other wholesale transactions. The Supreme Court prohibited the “two-finger” test on rape victims. | According to the Supreme Court, it is improper to subject rape or sexual assault survivors to the “two-finger” or “three-finger” test. The Center and state governments were ordered to review the curriculum in medical schools by a bench presided over by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud. The SC argued that the government should also make sure that survivors of rape or sexual assault are not subjected to a test known as a “per vaginal” test. The instructions must be distributed to both government and private hospitals, the court said. According to the Supreme Court bench, this test has no scientific foundation and neither supports nor refutes claims of rape. It insults women’s dignity and re-victimizes them. In order to assess whether a woman is “habituated to sexual intercourse,” a doctor must enter her fingers into her vagina and measure the degree of laxity. |

The WHO has published a list of the most dangerous fungi. | The World Health Organization (WHO) has released the first-ever fungal priority pathogens list (FPPL), which includes 19 fungi that have the potential to be harmful to human health. Based on the threat that they pose from growing antifungal resistance and/or their impact on human health, the fungal infections have been classified as critical, high, and medium priorities. A highly drug-resistant fungus called Candida auris is on the critical priority list. Fungi from the Candida family and others, such as the Mucorales, a group that includes black fungus, are included on the high priority list. A person’s risk increases if they have a weak immune system, are HIV-positive, have cancer, a chronic respiratory illness, or have had TB. The WHO FPPL list is an initiative to better the worldwide response to fungal diseases and antifungal resistance by systemically prioritising fungi. There have been suggested three areas for action: Concentrate on enhancing lab capacity and oversight Sustainable Investing in innovation, research, and development Public health measures WHO created its first list of bacterial priority infections in 2017. |
